Walt Disney World

Eugene & I went to Disney in early December. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside & that is a really pretty resort. The landscaping is beautiful & they even had a boat you could ride from the resort to downtown Disney.

Monday morning found us at Magic Kingdom at rope drop. Was a warm day & I wore flip flops & short sleeves. Texas was cold when we left & the weather was awesome. We rode everything we wanted to, saw both parades & watched the fireworks. Had lunch at Cosmic Ray’s & for a snack later we had a dole whip float…yummy!

After the fireworks we rode the monorail to the Poly. & ate supper at Ohana. We love that meal! Everything is so good & it is a fun restaurant to eat at.

Tuesday morning we were at Epcot when they opened for another full day.  Another warm day…flip flops…am loving that. We rode soaring, test track &  others till lunch & headed to the World Showcase. We never made it back to the front part of Epcot that day as we had too much fun wandering around the Countries.

These are from the Living with the Land ride. I really like this one & we ended up riding it several times.

We decided to eat at Tangerine grill in Morocco. This was a counter service meal…thankfully not a restaurant. It was horrible! The only icky meal of the trip. We spent the next few hours hoping it stayed down! I think it is the odd spices they use in cooking that turned us off…or it could be eating lamb as well as chicken.

After our lunch we wandering around the World. We listened to the Canada group several times & the United Kingdom one. Then we listened to the ones in America. They were all real good.

The Japanese candy artist was awesome!! We ended up watching her at least 4 times during our visits here. Wanted to see her again friday but was off that day. She takes a gob of candy & stretched it kind of like taffy & puts it on a stick & just a minute or two she turns it into any animal or bird someone asks her to do & then paints it. Giraffes, bears, birds of all types…in about 10 -15 minutes she made about 8 kinds. It was so neat.

Our day was winding down & our energy as well so we headed to Mexico to eat at the San Angel Inn. Eugene had steak & I had chicken. The meal was good & dessert a vanilla cream mousse  w/ berries was tops. Is such a neat place to eat as the restaurant is so pretty.

We went during free dining so every day we got to eat at a restaurant, a counter meal place & get a snack free. I love it as you get to pick anything on the menu & not watch prices. You get a entree, dessert & drink at the restaurants & pay only if you get extras like soup or a salad. We saved over $700. on eats. Of course if it wasn’t free dining we wouldn’t of ate like that all week!!

Wednesday was another full day as we kind of bounced around all day. We started out at Hollywood Studios & stayed till lunch.

We rode Toy Story Mania first & fastpassed so to ride it again later. This is the best ride at this park for sure!

We saw Beauty & the Beast.

After Tower & Terror & a few other things to see we were off to Downtown Disney for lunch. We ate at Wolfgang Puck Express which is just called a counter service meal. It was so good. Salads, sandwiches or regular type meals, REAL iced tea & desserts that were unreal! We loved it & ate here another time also.

After eating we shopped & then rode the boat back to our resort. The boatride was really nice & enjoyable.

After resting a few hours at the resort we went back to HS & rode Toy Story again & saw the dancing lights & snow. The we went to Animal Kingdom Lodge for supper at Boma..”Favors of Africa”. This was another great meal. Was quite different from anything we’d ate before but was good. Was neat to see this resort too. After our meal we hopped the bus back to DTD & rode the boat back to our resort.

Thursday morning started out beautiful & warm. We walked along the river from Port Orleans Riverside to the French Quarters. Wanted to see what this resort looked like & eat beignets.

My plans today were to dress up abit, for us a white shirt w/ nicer denim is dressy, & find some photographers around the World after we eat lunch at LeCellier Steakhouse. SO…we arrive at Epcot about an hour before lunch & a cold spell blows in & it pours!! The rain did clear out but it stayed cold.

Here we are at LeCellier Steakhouse in Canada. I tried for months online to finally get this reservation. It was totally delicious! The cheese soup, filet, bread sticks & dessert were tops.

Then we wandered around the World & listened to music & took photos till we froze out & went back to our resort to rest abit & thaw out.

That night we went to Magic from 7 till midnight. We rode rides, watched 2 neat parades & the fireworks. Ate lots of sugar cookies & drank hot cocoa & apple cider. Saw the snow on main street & it felt cool enough for it. Was lots of fun!

Friday plans were to eat out breakfast at Kona Cafe…but we slept in instead! Then we went to DTD for abit of shopping & ate at Wolfgang Puck Express for lunch. Yummy BQ chicken salad!

Then that afternoon we went back to Epcot. We rode the rides we hadn’t done yet & headed back to the World Showcase again. Had snacks from the Norway bakery again today & they were really good.

We ate supper at Coral Reef & were very impressed. We both had a salad, steak & taters, & yummy desserts. Was neat to sit by the huge aquariums & watch the fish & stingrays & sharks. Saw the divers a few times too.

Saturday our last day arrived. We checked out & put our bags on hold & headed to Animal Kingdom for the day. I love AK… is like a huge safari – zoo.

We ate breakfast at Tusker House Animal Safari Breakfast. It was so good & lots of fun! Thanks Eugene for having fun with me there!!

We saw the flights of wonder & WOW!!!  THIS bird could sing!!!

We even got lucky & saw “DeVine” in Asia & she really looks like a vine…neat!

The day was moving on so we headed to our Resort & ate an early supper. Then we got a bus to the airport & flew back in. Was a fun trip…hope you had fun traveling along with me in the photos.

Coupon Time

I used to coupon all the time back when we had places to double & triple & did really well. I still do coupons & average $10 to $20 off a big bill each week…but.. with Suzanne doing couponing the new way with price match & internet coupons & matching up with sales I got the coupon fever & wanted to try my hand at it.

First let me state the old way was easier! However, once I catch on I’m sure this will get easier with time.

On Tuesday I got regular groceries at HEB & did some coupons at Target too. I spent $90 & got $50 more free…not bad for a first try I thought.

So today I tried it again at Target. My receipt stated I saved $33.52 which counts sales & coupons. I would of paid $29.48 w/o coupons BUT with coupons I paid $8.44.

The groceries I got are pictured below..Kraft cheese, Mott apple juice, DelMonte Veggies, a disp. Kodak camera & lots more.

Hmmm…I think I’m hooked!!! [Thanks! Suzanne!]

Ladies day out- opening deerseason weekend

Our Ladies day out this year was abit different. With 3 of the guys getting leases a long way off..we lost a bunch of our crowd.

Didn’t plan much for the rest of us as Kimberly is now overdue & we thought we might be seeing a baby instead. Then Momma didn’t feel good..so she just ate lunch with us at Rosa’s & passed on the zoo trip.

However, Melissa, Kimberly, Suzanne, Brianna, Lorien, Rohan & I enjoyed our afternoon at the zoo.

Brianna took this next one…

Happy Birthday Melissa

Melissa had an early birthday celebration this year. Tomorrow is the “real day” but our meeting is going on then…so we had fun several weeks back. We shopped, just us gals, at San Marcos on Saturday. Was alot of fun & we all found some bargains. Found all of Melissa’s “surprise”[ lol ] birthday gifts too. We tried out Razzios in Round Rock for lunch & that was good.

Sunday we had lunch of pizza & salad. Strawberry cake, homemade ice cream & homemade waffle cones were the dessert. Those cones were delicious but my kitchen looked like a tornado had passed by when we got those finished!

Happy Birthday Melissa!! I love you bunches & am so thankful you are my daughter. Wishing you a wonderful year to come!!

Visiting the seashore with our granddaughters

Friday at 1:30 that afternoon we were loaded up & on our way to the seashore. After about 20 minutes they wondered if we were almost there! So we showed Brianna the clock & said when it showed 7 we should be there. They did great on the ride there & we stopped at a gas station where they needed some doughnuts & crackers – then later a McDonalds where they had a yummy strawberry sundae which they thought was awesome! [It costs $1]

Finally we were there & it was getting late. So we drove straight to the ferry & it seemed to take forever to get our turn to cross. We saw dolphins when we crossed & the girls thought that really neat! Finally we were over & we drove to the beach by the jetty as was almost dark & they were really wanting to see the sea shore.

Was getting dark so we went back to the ferry & got a ride back across. Then headed to Mackie & Norma Jeans [Mark & Dianes] house in Aransas Pass. Here are the kids at their cute place.

Saturday I promise there was no danger of over sleeping!!! LOL Those gals were up with the birds & woke us to go play at the sea shore. So I finally got them to eat a pop tart & we were off again. Back across the ferry we go. We ended up riding it 8 times! Here we are playtime at last!!

We built a sand castle!

And then the fun they destroyed it!!

We fed the not very hungry sea gulls.

They ran & played & splashed & dug!

After 4 hours of playing we shook off the sand & headed back across the ferry to clean up. Then we ate a very late lunch at Whataburger with 2 hungry gals that ate all their chicken strips & choc. shakes. Then off we went again across the ferry to shop!!

A trip to Port Aransas just isn’t complete without a trip to those “wonderful” seashell shops!!! LOL Finally after they found something they couldn’t live without we headed to the candy store. Now that is an awesome place! They each got a little white bag & put little dabs of all types of goodies in it. They thought it was the coolest place ever & I must say I kind of agree!

Next we drove to the jetty & watched several huge ships come by. They were amazed at how big the ship was. Just sat & relaxed abit.

Headed back across the ferry & went to the house for awhile. The kids fished abit but decided the toys inside were more their thing. We just spent several hours letting them play & we all had some downtime. Then headed back across the ferry to the playground that Brianna saw earlier. They played & then we ate supper at the spaghetti house & enjoyed a pizza.

Was dark & our busy day was about over – so we rode the ferry our last time & headed back to the house. After the gals were in their nighties & all the sand of the day washed down the drain they played awhile & I cleaned up the place.

Sunday after breakfast we headed off to Church & Eugene  had the lesson, etc. that morning. We enjoyed a yummy meal at another mexican food place & of course the gals had a coke! Then we started our long drive home. Lorien went to sleep right after we ate & slept 1/2 way home! They were so good on the drive & lots of fun to take. It was so fun to see the sea shore thru the eyes of someone for the first time. They loved it all…sand, water, waves, seagulls, the ferry…everything EXCEPT the mosquitoes!!

San Antonio Zoo

Eugene & I made a quick trip to San Antonio after taking Melissa & Anna to the airport Monday. We visited the San Antonio zoo as it  was cool while we were there that afternoon  all the animals were active & fun to watch.

This bear was enjoying his meal of fish.

For $1 you could get a little thing of nectar & feed the Lorikeet. Was really neat to have those beautiful birds climb all over you & drink the nectar.

Then we came back home thru hill country. Stopped at the Wildflower Farm on the way & admired the pretty flowers blooming there.

Was enjoyable!
