ZOO

First here is a neat photo of one of my many birdfeeders. Eugene had just filled my feeder for me and we looked out and the tree was full of redbirds. Five of them show up in this photo that I took from the den window. I love watching the birds and they go thru bunches and bunches of birdseed during the winter.

Then as the weather was so beautiful several days this week Suzanne and I went to the zoo.

Fall days & nice temperatures make for a fun afternoon in the backyard.  Brianna, Lorien & Rohan make the leaves fly & have fun.

YOU CAN TEACH AN “OLD” CAT NEW TRICKS!!!

Here’s some background information on our cats. First there is Buddy my orange cat. He loves to come in & get on the furniture to sleep. Chairs, couch, bed – he isn’t picky – we try to keep him off but he is really hard headheaded. Then there is Tigger who comes in & sleeps on the rug, the wood floor, the fireplace or my wood shelf unit. Tigger likes only cool places to hang out & never gets on the “real”  furniture.

SO… we decide we are getting some new furniture SO Eugene says NO CATS ON THE NEW FURNITURE!  What do I do???

So off to Walmart for a cool kitty bed for Buddy. Warm, fuzzy & brown to match our decor. Tigger doesn’t need one as he doesn’t sleep in warm cozy places.

Home again & Buddy goes CRAZY! He hates it!! He’s scared of it & guess what??  Tigger falls madly in love with the thing & claims it anyway!  I’ve still got a problem – new furniture coming in 2 weeks & Buddy still loves to hang out on furniture. Of course, by now we’ve sold all our old furniture & he doesn’t have much left to hang out on.

So off to Walmart again. Let’s see – a really cool cat bed with a pocket under it that you put catnip in. It gives it an catnip smell & cats are supposed to go nuts. Dustin laughed when I took it to the car & said no way will that work!!

Home again & Dustin got it all fixed up for them.Then guess what?? Both cats went crazy over the bed! Buddy wanted it & Tigger wanted it! Tigger forgot all about how much he loved his old bed – he wanted this one!! Just like kids!!

Of course, like kids the new worn off & Tigger will hang out in either bed – he loves them. We are still working with Buddy. He gets on the furniture – we put him in his bed over & over & over! Maybe given time you can teach an “old cat” new tricks!!

New Years Meeting

Our New Years Meeting has come and gone – only thing left are the memories. I found the family theme encouraging this year. I like a theme that lifts you up and makes you want to try harder and live better. Thought I’d share a few of the photos we took on sunday and wednesday.
